Steve Houghtaling and Belcan Engineering initiated an Aerospace Employment Placement Program (AEPP) in 2015 with the Hartford chapter of the Journey Home organization. The program trains homeless individuals and veterans at Goodwin College, utilizing a curriculum prepared by Belcan Engineering, for jobs in the aerospace industry. Belcan Engineering employs the graduates of this program in their Windsor office, which is conveniently located on the city bus line.

Until the onset of the pandemic, there had been some 30 trainees in the program; Steve is working with the Belcan Engineering teams to revive the program and reinstate this important opportunity for vulnerable Connecticut residents.

A few years back, CT Senator Chris Murphy recognized the benefits the placement program offered his state, visiting the operation and seeing firsthand the impact the initiative was having.

In 2016, Belcan Engineering opened an office in Rockford, IL. At the time, Steve Houghtaling was interviewed by local WIFR Rockford news and said, “Now we have the ability to expand to other Rockford area businesses to help them with their engineering needs both across engineering, supply chain, manufacturing and systems, and software so we’re really looking forward to our relationship with the Rockford community.”
